Rethink Paper: Meet emtec Electronic at MIAC 2020

The company starts the celebration of its 25th anniversary in October in Lucca

The German company emtec Electronic GmbH develops, produces and sells testing technologies worldwide and celebrates its 25th anniversary starting at MIAC 2020 in October in Lucca, Italy at booth no. 103. The company is proud of what has been achieved over the past few decades and looks back on successful businesses as well as great partnerships.

emtec logo 25 yearsIn 1995 the company started with one device and four employees within the paper industry. Its founder and General Manager, Mr. Giselher Gruener developed a new measuring device for liquid penetration PDA Penetration Dynamics Analyzer to predict the gluing, printing and coating behavior of paper and board. Beside other developments the company introduced the first objective softness measuring device in 2006 to the tissue industry. The emtec TSA Tissue Softness Analyzer is probably the biggest success in emtec’s history. This success story is likely to continue in the textile and nonwovens industry, where manufacturers, chemical suppliers etc. have similar concerns, the haptic properties of a textile or nonwoven product are of utmost importance for consumers.

A further milestone was the introduction of the emtec ACA Ash Content Analyzer in 2012, which allows the determination of the total ash content as well as the individual minerals and fillers in paper and board non-destructive within seconds. The latest innovation for the pulp and paper industry is coming from a close partnership with AFG Analytics GmbH. The improved and new designed CAS touch! Charge Analyzing System and FPA touch! Fiber Potential Analyzer have been introduced in 2016. The two updated and upgraded test devices didn´t change their measuring principle, but with their small size and light weight, it is easy to carry them, the touchscreen enables an easy and intuitive handling and with the PC software deeper analyses of the tested material are possible.

In the meanwhile, the company has around 32 employees and offers 13 different devices with several modules in more than 80 countries with a global sales network of 32 independent representatives. All devices of the emtec product range are self-developed and unique on the market.

If you have the chance to visit MIAC 2020, feel welcomed at emtec booth no. 103 to have a look to the emtec testing equipment, clink glasses with emtec staff Philipp Sievers and Ullrich (Ulli) Kasten, have a tiny snack with the Italian representatives Riccardo Cossi (Qi Srl) and Massimo Rossi (Metreo Srl), discuss ideas, get open questions answered or own samples tested live.

How does your pulp compare to others and which properties can be measured to improve quality?

emtec Electronic presents the TSA Tissue Softness Analyzer as well as the CAS touch! and the FPA touch! at this year's Tissue World Miami at booth G51 from March 11th to 13th in Miami, USA.

2017 03 30 092245The emtec TSATissue Softness Analyzer is a multi-functional measuring device for the objective assessment of softness, roughness and in-plane stiffness of tissue products and calculates the "Handfeel" value adapted to the respective market and product. These individually measured parameters are used for quality control, help in product and process optimization, and can also be used to develop new products. Participants at the trade show can have samples measured and evaluated directly at the booth using the TSA.

The CAS touch! Charge Analyzing System and the FPA touch! Fiber Potential Analyzer will both be presented at Tissue World Miami, too. The CAS touch! measures trash particles in the pulp, which helps to optimize the use of chemicals, to reduce costs and to improve both, product quality and runnability.

The FPA touch! (Fiber Potential Analyzer) measures the surface charge of the fiber and helps the paper, tissue and corrugated board manufacturers, but also the chemical supplier, to optimize the use of chemicals. As a result, product quality can be improved and runnability and production output can be optimized.

"I am looking forward to the exchange with our customers and to the feedback about their experiences with our measuring instruments. This is the only way we can further develop ourselves and our products. It is important to us that we improve and, above all, facilitate the daily work of our customers with our products", says Alexander Gruener, Area Manager at emtec Electronic. He will be supported by Eric Haagen from the emtec Sales Department at emtec Electronic.

Emtec test equipment enables a very exact evaluation of the relevant paper and board properties

Elof Hansson and emtec Electronic at ACOTEPAC 2020 in Cali, Colombia

From February 12th to 14th emtec presents its innovative measuring instruments for the pulp, paper and board industry at the ACOTEPAC conference (booth no. 56). The use of these devices enables a more efficient and reliable process and quality control from the wet end to the finished product and helps to achieve the best possible quality at the lowest possible costs.

2017 03 30 092245At the ACOTEPAC interested visitors can take a look at the Charge Analyzing System CAS touch! and the  Fiber Pozential Analyzer FPA touch!, two devices, which measure the particle charge and the surface charge of fibers. The easy handling, light weight and small size makes them an ideal partner. What the FPA touch! achieves with high accuracy in the laboratory, its “big brother”, the Fiber Potential Analyzer online FPO achieves directly in the production process, to which it is directly connected. Up to four fully automatic measurements per hour are possible. The results can be provided online, but can also be transferred to the computer system of the mill. The permanent controll allows an immediate reaction, in case it becomes necessary.

Together with our Colombian partner Alberto Marin, from Elof Hansson, our area manager, Daniel Ohndorf, will attend the conference of the Colombian papermakers once again in 2020. Besides the wet-end test devices CAS touch! and FPA touch!, the EST12 emtec Surface & Sizing Tester will be presented at the booth. By the help of the device, the surface sizing or more general the surface hydrophobia and the surface pore structure of paper and board can be evaluated. Both parameters have a big influence to the converting relevant quality characteristics printability, coatability and glueability.

Both, the total mineral filler content, as well as the individual filler components (e.g. calcium carbonate, kaolin/talcum, titanium dioxide, iron oxide) and their percentage distribution are given.

Especially for tissue and nonwoven products, the popular TSA Tissue Softness Analyzer gives reliable and objective information about the three basic parameters, which determine the human feeling: the softness, roughness and stiffness. From these three, an overall hand feel value can be calculated. The availability of these values opens a huge amount of chances to optimize the tissue production and converting processes. New for hand sheet measurements: an updated version of the TSA and an improved measuring method for hand sheets (made in the lab) enables a reliable prediction of the final product quality in the lab without expensive trials at the tissue machine.
