Mitsubishi HiTec Paper, the Bielefeld producer of coated speciality papers, has presented the Environmental award, science category, to Prof. Dr. Alexander Bassen at the annual meeting of B.A.U.M. on 17th& 18th May in Frankfurt a.M. / Germany.

The German Working Group for Environmentally Conscious Management (B.A.U.M. eV ) has honoured company representatives, scientists and journalists who have made outstanding contributions to the environment and sustainability every year since 1993. In 2017, the focus was on sustainable investment.

Price increase for speciality papers

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper, the Bielefeld based manufacturer of coated speciality papers, is increasing its prices for deliveries from 1st June 2017, by 6 – 8 % worldwide.

Another milestone has been reached in the qualification of jetscript papers for use on commercial high-speed inkjet printers: Ricoh has approved DLS 9020, DS 1341 and the DL 84 series for use on the Pro VC60000.

With the Pro VC60000, Ricoh is aiming at high-quality digital printing for the complex and demanding publishing, direct mail, commercial print and graphic art markets. Using coated Mitsubishi inkjet papers, print productivity is significantly increased, and the available range of products is expanded further. Jetscript papers are particularly convincing due to the high print quality achievable at maximum printing speeds.

New Managing Directors at Mitsubishi HiTec Paper

Effective January 1, 2017, Dr. Martin Schreer and Andreas Jastrzembowski will become the new Managing Directors of Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe GmbH. They succeed Gerhard Schoon, who is retiring at the end of 2016.

After 38 years of working for the company, including 4 years as mill manager and 8 years as managing director, Gerhard Schoon, a versatile industry expert who has led the company with great commitment and great recognition, is leaving the Bielefeld-based speciality paper manufacturer.

Dr. Martin Schreer (57) will become the Technical Managing Director. He has been with Mitsubishi HiTec Paper since 2012, and is currently Director of Research & Development, following a career spanning over 24 years in research & development of the production and processing of speciality papers.

Andreas Jastrzembowski (59) will become the Commercial Managing Director. He has been with Mitsubishi HiTec Paper since 1985, and is currently Director of Human Resources IT & Administration. During his career, he has successfully fulfilled a number of different functions in production, personnel, administration, Real Estate GmbH, and IT.

As a result of this, in addition to ISO 9001 (quality management), the two plants in Bielefeld and Flensburg are both ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 50001 (energy management) certified.  Now both sites have also been certified with the PEFC™ Chain-of-Custody.

PEFC™ is the largest institution for ensuring sustainable forest management by an independent certification system. Timber and timber products with the PEFC™ seal are known to originate from ecologically, economically and socially sustainable forestry.

In 2014 and 2015 the technical production facilities and the energy processes at both mills were optimized (Coating machine 3 Bielefeld: new roller dampening unit, Coating machine 21 Bielefeld: new process control system and cooling water system and optimization of the monitoring systems, Paper machine 1 Flensburg: new process control system). This investment has led to significantly increased productivity, production flexibility and efficiency across both sites.

"In addition to this, we have carried out intensive best practice analyses, implemented new working methods and adjusted the organizational structure," said CEO Gerhard Schoon. "Detailed market studies and an intensification of R & D were the basis for product diversification and the definition of new product areas".
