We are excited to announce the launch of our new service brand: Orange Board – Containerboard Support by Mondi. All three existing services have now been incorporated under one brand, making this service package unique in the industry. The existing “seminars and coaching” and “AAA academy” service pillars were augmented by the newly created “corrugated-paper-expert” web platform at the end of 2017.

Closing the gap between papermakers and corrugated board makers became the goal when Mondi’s first seminar “From fibre to corrugated board” was held in 2002. Ever since, customers have been benefitting from Mondi’s expertise in papermaking and corrugating.

2018 03 23 110135

Over the years Mondi’s technical sales service specialists have constructed three service packages: seminars and coaching for large audiences right down to small local sessions and individual coaching; the AAA academy, offering the same quality of coaching for the overseas region; and the newest addition, the corrugated-paper-expert web platform, offering 24/7 support for customers.

Now this 360-degree service package has a new brand: Orange Board – Containerboard Support by Mondi stands for support wherever and whenever the customer needs it.

Mondi, the global packaging and paper Group, gives its office and professional printing paper IQ a brand new look. The IQ brand concept revolves around ‘Intelligence’ and what it means to be an intelligent paper solution, offering the right answer for all needs, from offset to digital printing. IQ combines this versatility with a 99.99% trouble-free runnability

Since its launch in 2001, IQ has built up its strong brand recognition and is ranking today number two in brand awareness for all of Europe in the 2016 EMGE Cut-Size Survey. Mondi is building up on that high level of brand awareness with the rejuvenated image for IQ. This includes a new logo, freshly designed ream wrappers, and new sales and marketing tools.

“IQ is already one of the best-known paper brands in Europe,” says Johannes Klumpp, Marketing and Sales Director, Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper. “So we want to maintain its high profile and also highlight the great versatility of this portfolio: There is an IQ suitable for every printing technology and every purpose. Whether for office or professional printing, IQ has the solution for you.”

2018 02 02 102920

The IQ portfolio has continuously adapted to customer needs and could therefore build a loyal customer base. The success of the IQ story also rests upon the good partnership between Mondi and Europapier, Mondi’s key distribution partner for the IQ range.

“IQ has always been an essential and reliable part of our long-standing cooperation with Mondi. We are pleased to work now together on promoting IQ papers even further,” says Helmut Limbeck, CEO of Europapier Group. “We very much like the new IQ campaign, which gives the brand a fresher image and also focuses on what IQ paper really stands for - an intelligent solution for all printing needs. Europapier is serving around 10.000 customers with IQ papers, which is an impressive proof point of this statement.”

The communicative power of IQ

Intelligence is defined as the mental quality that enables one to learn from experience and adapt to new situations. "This is exactly what our IQ papers stand for in the printing industry as they are versatile and can be easily adapted to all printing situations,” highlights Johannes Klumpp the story of the “Intelligent Paper Brand”.

Thirty-six colours and a grammage range from 60 up to 400 g/m² show the great diversity of the IQ portfolio. Symbolic for this diversity, new visuals were designed for all the sub-brands of the office and professional printing portfolio, each relating to the concept of intelligence. For its “high-performance paper” IQ PREMIUM a high-tech robot represents the enhanced productivity and quality the paper gives you in the work place. A bust of Leonardo da Vinci is featured on the new packaging of IQ ALLROUND, linking one of humankind’s greatest thinkers and multi-talents to a paper with perfect runnability that is the solid all-rounder among the IQ range.

 Performance driven. Every day.

Not only is IQ versatile, it is also extremely reliable. Addressing end-customers’ challenges with printing, Mondi introduced the “Performance Champion” for their IQ paper portfolio. Provided it has been stored under proper conditions, Mondi ensures 99.99% trouble-free runnability of its paper on copiers, printers and other office equipment.

In addition, IQ SMOOTH and IQ PREMIUM both feature ColorLok® Technology, which enhances the quality of inkjet printing. With ColorLok®, pigments are held close to the surface, resulting in more vivid colours, bolder blacks and faster drying time.

Sustainable. Every day.

As with all Mondi uncoated fine papers, IQ is part of the company’s Green Range, which symbolises high environmental performance in sustainable paper production. IQ papers fulfil Mondi’s Green Range criteria for either FSC® or PEFC™ certification for responsibly managed forests. All Mondi IQ papers also carry the EU Ecolabel. IQ branded papers are sustainably produced at all three of Mondi’s European paper mills: Mondi Neusiedler in Austria, Mondi SCP in Slovakia, and Mondi Syktyvkar in Russia, offering the right paper solution to customers everywhere and every day.

‘Paper for Perfectionists’ in graphic design and fine printing

PERGRAPHICA® design papers – exhibited for the first time at the highly renowned Frankfurt Bookfair – complement Mondi’s offering at the high end of its professional print portfolio. It is called ‘Paper for Perfectionists’ because it fulfils the most demanding requirements for sophisticated and elegant printed documents – ideally suited for book printing projects. Graphic designers, advertising agencies and fine book publishers are just a few of the creative industries that will appreciate PERGRAPHICA®’s variety of options: two textures (Rough and Smooth), three shades (High White, Classic and Natural) and six grammages between 90 and 300 g/m2.

As a hybrid paper, PERGRAPHICA® works well with all printing technologies. It delivers consistent, high-quality results whether used for offset or digital printing. It is also well-suited to a variety of post-print processing such as cellophaning, embossing, creasing, die-cutting and more.

NEUJET®, Mondi’s newest high-speed inkjet paper

The NEUJET® portfolio will also be presented at the Frankfurt Bookfair. It represents Mondi’s next generation of high-speed inkjet papers optimized for medium to heavy color book printing applications. The portfolio is offered in two quality levels, standard and premium, and two surface finishes, matte and silk, closing the gap to coated offset printing. Publishers and book printers will be able to see books printed on DNS® high-speed inkjet and DNS® premium – testament to our wide paper portfolio dedicated for inkjet printers.

IQ color – an extensive colour range

The IQ color range encompasses 36 standard colors, from soft pastels to bright neons and bold black. Book printers can experience the superb colour uniformity and consistency of IQ color in the new Visual Book – the “Art of Seeing” – with its smooth surface and even fibre distribution for high-quality printing and itself a piece of art. It invites people to take a journey through colour and explore visual phenomena and perception. Mondi’s tinted papers achieve top print results whether using digital laser, hybrid or offset printing technologies. IQ color also features a high degree of light-fastness for a print product that will last for years. “IQ color delivers better print quality and more flexibility than you expect – the possibilities are endless”, added Klumpp.

Jutta Wacht, Art Director at the creative agency Say Say Say, Inc., which designed the book, was impressed by the variety of weights and formats in which IQ color is available, from A4 and A3 to folio sheets and reels. “The great number of formats and different grammages show that IQ color is perfectly suited to professional printing. Its good printability showed us that you can easily use colourful paper for a book project or a catalogue,” she said.

Sustainable. Every day.

“Customers have peace of mind knowing that all Mondi papers are environmentally certified, so they have the best paper solutions combined with proven, environmentally sound production. Hence sustainability is one of the key drivers of Mondi’s business”, underlines Klumpp. All Mondi uncoated fine paper branded products are part of Mondi’s Green Range, meaning that they are FSC® or PEFC™ certified, 100% recycled or totally chlorine free bleached (TCF). Mondi continually invests in making its mills and production plants as energy efficient and sustainable as possible. For Mondi, sustainability makes good business sense - every day.

At the beginning of March, Mondi hosted the closing event of a research project called FLIPPR (Future Lignin and Pulp Processing Research) at its headquarters in Vienna. The event marked the end of a collaborative research programme examining bio-refinery issues. FLIPPR’s main objective was to identify future business areas for companies in the fields of lignin and fibre utilization.

Research results benefit customers
2017 07 24 095942As a supplier, Mondi is determined to offer sustainable solutions, environmentally sound packaging and uncoated fine paper grades while minimising the amount of fossil-based chemicals in its products. Leo Arpa, Head of R&D Paper provides the following forecast: “Creating value from natural resources is one of the key challenges for Mondi’s R&D teams. Our participation in FLIPPR will enable us to build the next generation of pulp-based bio-refineries and thus develop new and improved bio-based products requiring less raw material and energy.”

Mondi will be part of FLIPPR² which started in April 2017 and is building on the research and activities from FLIPPR. FLIPPR² has the main objective to further develop the most promising findings from FLIPPR.

Thomas Timmel, director of the FLIPPR project, commented: “Projects such as FLIPPR, in which fundamental research is aligned with the needs of the industry, combine the development of advanced technical solutions – in this case based on cellulose and lignin – with an ecological and economical perspective. The project has delivered new and exciting findings relating to applications and analytical methodologies.”

New packaging design with improved strength and convenience options

Mondi, the international paper and packaging Group, announces the relaunch of its market leading brand Color Copy with a new branding, improved packaging and 100% satisfaction guarantee. The focus of the campaign is to tell the story of Color Copy as the brand customers trust and have relied on for over a quarter of a century for perfect print results and consistent quality. The paper quality remains unchanged.

Color Copy enjoys very high brand awareness and a strong reputation. It is still by a large margin the most recognised brand name for colour applications in Europe (40% vs. 14% for second ranked brand), confirmed again by the latest 2016 EMGE Cut-size Survey.  Mondi carried out extensive marketing research in 2016 with customers and end-users surveyed across ten countries. The aim was to better understand why end-users had stayed loyal to the brand over the years and how they saw the benefits of Color Copy for their business. “While we received some insights into what we can do better, the clear message we received from 92% of users was that they are very satisfied with the quality of the paper and we shouldn’t change anything here. So we’ve focused on the branding, packaging and convenience options where we could make Color Copy even better – on the outside -  while retaining strong brand recognition,” explains Johannes Klumpp, Marketing & Sales Director, Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper.

2017 06 14 072604This is the first time Color Copy has undergone any significant rebranding in its 28 years of existence. As part of the rebranding, Color Copy’s packaging has been improved threefold: in terms of design, strength and convenience. The wrappers and boxes are fully branded with a bold new look to make a bigger impact at the point of sale. The wrappers are stronger than ever with an improved base paper and now feature an easy-open tear strip for greater consumer convenience.

What’s more, Mondi now offers a shelf-ready packaging option for paper and office supply retailers. This high-quality perforated box requires no unpacking. It comes ready for shelf display and highlights Color Copy’s eye-catching new branding to attract shoppers.

100% Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Mondi guarantees true-to-life, brilliant colour copies and perfect print results every time with Color Copy, and offers to replace the paper if not 100% satisfied with the results. Color Copy is specifically designed to meet the needs of digital colour printing. It is available in a variety of standard paper formats and reels, and in grammages ranging from 90 gsm to 400 gsm.

In July Mondi will begin the rollout of its new Color Copy branding and packaging, followed by related sub-brands in the fall. The rollout is accompanied by a comprehensive marketing campaign with the clear and reassuring slogan of “Doing a great job.” Johannes Klump explains: “For us, ‘Doing a great job.’ is more than a claim. It reflects the performance the brand has delivered consistently for over two decades. It’s also a promise. It’s you AND me together. And it’s our mission with Color Copy – to continue to do a great job for our customers every day.” The focus is on emotional messaging and compelling images that emphasise Color Copy’s guaranteed reliability. The teaser campaign, which ran from the end of April until mid-June, included magazine, billboard and online advertising, with weekly promotional prize giveaways. The marketing strategy will also include a relaunch of the Color Copy microsite (www.colorcopy.com) in a fully responsive design by the end of June, as well as an end-user social media campaign in the fall, and all new print and online marketing and sales tools.

Mondi has published an expressive new visual book for its IQ color range of uncoated tinted papers that is itself a piece of art. Entitled ‘The Art of Seeing’, it invites people to take a journey through colour and explore visual phenomena and perception. Its 288 pages are filled with vivid colours, creative elements and optical illusions. The dynamic visual book inspires the imagination with the unlimited possibilities that IQ color offers for professional printers and the creative industries.

“The Art of Seeing” visual book – a new approach to colour
The fantastic journey into colour begins already on the front cover, which presents a visual ‘game’ in which differently coloured cards can be rearranged to trick the eye and change the pattern on the cover. ‘The Art of Seeing’ demonstrates this flexibility through a series of clever optical illusions that use a variety of printing and finishing methods.

Explore Mondi’s world of colour
Designers can easily remove colour samples from specially perforated pages to experiment with different ideas and colour combinations. Within the book are samples of all 36 standard colours - ready to be explored and used in creative projects. Johannes Klumpp, Marketing and Sales Director, Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper, says, “We designed ‘The Art of Seeing’ as a visual tool to really inspire professional printers and graphic designers to use IQ color tinted papers.

‘The Art of Seeing’ was printed in Austria by Holzhausen Druck GmbH. Hannes Fauland Jr., Customer Service at Holzhausen, had worked with IQ color papers before, and he said that after this project he will certainly work with them even more. “The project showed us how in this special case the sequence of colours bound together one after the other can put you in a good mood and generate a positive feeling,” he remarked.

IQ color – an extensive colour range
The IQ color range encompasses 36 standard colors, from soft pastels to bright neons and bold black. The new visual book shows off the superb colour uniformity and consistency of IQ color, with its smooth surface and even fibre distribution for high-quality printing. It achieves top print results whether using digital laser, hybrid or offset printing technologies.

Commenting on the impact of the unique visual book, she explained: “When you flip through the many colours, you are immediately inspired to work with tinted papers.”

What is also inspiring to designers and creatives is that Mondi offers the option of creating custom colours, substances and formats for IQ color. IQ color is also available in standard office formats. As a multifunctional office paper, it achieves best print results whether using laser printers or copiers or inkjet printing.

Sustainable. Every day.
For professional printers who are committed to sustainability, IQ color offers a strong environmental profile. The tinted papers are produced exclusively at the Mondi Neusiedler mill in Austria from FSC® certified virgin fibre. As part of Mondi’s Green Range of products, IQ color is fully biodegradable and recyclable and carries the EU’s Ecolabel. What’s more, the dyes are compliant with EN 71-3, the European standard for safety of toys, and the black paper (B100) is certified for food contact applications.
