pulp and paper 1Sandvik Materials Technology will show visitors to its stand at PulPaper 2014 how to increase boiler lifetimes with composite tube solutions that yield excellent corrosion properties and superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

This is the second time that the company has exhibited at Pulpaper, the world’s premier pulp and paper expo. Now in its 8th year, the event is set to attract industry professionals from around the globe to the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre.

“Sandvik is very pleased to be among the exhibitors at this year’s PulPaper to showcase our new composite tube which satisfies increasing demands for improved corrosion and cracking resistance,” explained Timo Peltola, Global Product Manager, Composite and Boiler Tubes.

A significant advantage of composite tube by Sandvik is that it is suited for applications where conditions outside and inside the tube require material properties that cannot be met by one material alone.

Two different alloys are metallurgically bonded together to achieve good thermal transfer properties. One alloy is used to withstand corrosion, while the other often is an approved pressure vessel material.

Timo Peltola added: “Visitors to our stand can see up close why Sandvik has remained at the forefront of composite tube production since the 1970s. Our composite tube is optimized for black liquor recovery boilers, syngas coolers, waste heat boilers and waste-to-energy boilers.”

Materials on display will include SanicroTM 67/4L7 premium composite tube, relied upon in severe conditions for black liquor recovery and other boiler applications. The product’s key attributes include superior anti-corrosion properties and longer lifecycles due to higher chromium levels and a low working-hardening rate.

These qualities make the grade more resistant to stress corrosion cracking and general corrosion than standard 304L/4L7 composite tubes.

“Sandvik has already delivered more than 3 million meters of composite tube worldwide. Our products are reinforced by quality controls that are more rigorous than any official standard,” said Timo Peltola.

Other innovative Sandvik solutions on display will include hollow bar and bar for cost effective component production, such as valves, washers and other key parts involved in pulp and paper applications; duplex tubes and fittings for piping; and hydraulics and instrumentation tubing for paper machines.

Sandvik material experts will be on hand throughout the exhibition to advise on optimal material grade selection and suitability for specific applications

            China Paper – Focus on Shanghai 2014 http://www.pulp-paperworld.com/ex1/adfor/item/3766-china-paper-focus-on-shanghai-2014 http://www.pulp-paperworld.com/ex1/adfor/item/3766-china-paper-focus-on-shanghai-2014

After careful consideration, Adforum and EJK, the organizers of China Paper/China Forest have decided not to go ahead with the arrangements of China Paper/China Forest 2013 in Beijing, September 2-4, 2013. The focus will now lie on the coming China Paper event in Shanghai, September 15-17, 2014.

In the autumn of 2012 our former Chinese sales associate since several years back, China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute (CNPPRI), launched a competing show scheduled just a few weeks after China Paper/China Forest 2013.

Two similar trade shows that close to each other would not be beneficial for exhibitors, visitors or the industry as a whole. The organizers of China Paper/China Forest have therefore tried to negotiate a resolution with CNPPRI involving a merge of the two shows into one strong meeting place. Negotiation efforts have not been successful and Adforum/EJK have therefore decided to discontinue the arrangements of China Paper/China Forest 2013 in Beijing.

China Paper/China Forest has successfully served the needs of the industry since 1987, with exceedingly positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike. Adforum/EJK now invite Chinese and International exhibitors, visitors and industry professionals to the 21st edition of China Paper in Shanghai, September 15-17, 2014. Like previous editions, the show is taking place at INTEX, Shanghai, featuring a highest quality international exhibition and conference.

The last China Paper Shanghai in 2012 proved once again the excellent reputation and track record of the event with visitor figures up 11% from the year before. More than 7300 highly qualified attendees and buyers from across China and 52 other countries could enjoy an exhibition of almost 400 companies.

PulPaper 2014 gathering the global pulp and paper industry in Helsinki, June 3-5, 2014 http://www.pulp-paperworld.com/ex1/adfor/item/3092-pulpaper-2014-gathering-the-global-pulp-and-paper-industry-in-helsinki-june-3-5-2014 http://www.pulp-paperworld.com/ex1/adfor/item/3092-pulpaper-2014-gathering-the-global-pulp-and-paper-industry-in-helsinki-june-3-5-2014

The 8th edition of PulPaper, one of the world’s premier pulp and paper exhibitions, coincides with the 100th anniversary of PI, the Paper Engineers’ Association. For this special occasion, the global industry will once again be gathered in Helsinki, Finland.

Since the start in 1987, PulPaper has grown into one of the highest regarded meeting places for the industry. The last edition in 2010 brought over 12,000 visitors from 63 countries to Helsinki to enjoy an exhibition of 624 companies from 30 countries.

                      - Despite the economical slowdown, the last event was very successful. We are now looking forward to the incoming 2014 event being better then ever, offering an exhibition with many new features, a strong conference programme and last but not least the celebration of PI’s 100th anniversary, says Marcus Bergström, CEO Adforum.

                      BioFuture for Mankind Conference

BioFuture for Mankind – this is the main theme of the PulPaper 2014 Conference, describing not only the global importance of bioeconomy, but also its effect on every human being. The topics discussed during the five conference sessions will be for example the definition of bioeconomy, profitability of the entire value chain, resource management for a sustainable world and the big bottlenecks of biomass conversion and separation technology. Attention will also be paid to the future role of paper in the information society, not forgetting packaging and new biobased materials. But one of the most important questions asked during the conference will be: “What can we offer the 2 billion living on less than 2 dollars a  day?”

The International Mechanical Pulping Conference (IMPC) will also be an important part of the conference programme, being a parallel session to the above mentioned conference sessions. IMPC is a scientific conference, which circulates between the different continents.

The BioFuture for Mankind conference programme committee is based on an international group of forest sector top specialists lead by chairman Jorma Eloranta, the previous CEO of Metso Oyj.

Gala evening - celebrating the 100th anniversary of PI

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of PI in style a big party will be held in the evening of June 4, 2014, giving participants of PulPaper 2014 the chance to mingle, network and enjoy good food and drink in the extraordinary surroundings of the brand new Helsinki Music House.

More information and pictures from prior PulPaper events can be found at www.pulpaperevent.com.

The Advisory Council has scheduled another meeting in the coming months to discuss in detail to structure a detailed conference programme involving various need of the hour sessions in the conference.

The Indian Paper industry is amongst the fastest growing pulp and paper markets in the world today and it presents an exciting scenario. Paper consumption is poised for a big leap forward in sync with the economic growth and is estimated to touch 13.95 million tonnes by 2015-16.

The Indian Paper Industry accounts for about 1.6% of the world's production of paper and paperboard. The estimated turnover of the industry is Rs.25,000 crore (USD 5.95 billion) approximately. The industry provides employment to more than 0.12 million people directly and 0.34 million people indirectly.

The demand for newsprint and writing & printing paper is expected to grow with 9% per year and the total Indian paper production is expected to grow from 9 million tonnes in 2010 to 14 million tonnes by 2014. paptech Paptech Finland, held in Helsinki on March 21-22, gathered 35 exhibitors and a total of 457 visitors over the two day event period. The new event concept was well received by exhibitors and visitors.

                                      - We are pleased about the organisation of the event and about the way it looked, says Marcus Bergström, CEO of Adforum, organisers of the event. - The concept was also well received by our exhibitors who appreciated the simplicity of participating. By offering complete stand packages at a reasonable price, exhibitors were just able to show up with their marketing materials and start networking.
                                      - Of course we had hoped for some more visitors, Bergström continues, but we think that most exhibitors had a decent amount of qualitative meetings with existing and new potential clients.
                                      - The idea behind the event was in my opinion brilliant, as the thought was to make for example the opening of conversations easier, says Heikki Mustalahti, Managing Director of ACA Systems Oy, who exhibited at Paptech Finland 2012. - I hope that more paper makers would attend the next Paptech, Mustalahti continues.

Paptech Finland was developed as a new meeting concept for the pulp and paper industry, enabling easy and cost effective meetings between suppliers and buyers. This two-day forum included informative seminars, an exclusive Gala Dinner, match-making areas and opportunities to catch up with colleagues over a cup of coffee. Paptech was developed as regional meeting place for the Finnish market in order to fill the gap between the two large PulPaper exhibitions, held in 2010 and 2014.

Paptech Finland was organised by Adforum with official support from PI, the Paper Engineers’ Association.

                                        - “Our industry is facing challenging times and we want to be there for our clients and discuss how we can help them”, says Stina Hemmilä, Manager, Marketing Communications at Pöyry. “Performance improvement, daily maintenance services and rebuilds are fields that we work in for many of our clients. We see Paptech as an opportunity to meet up mainly with our Finnish forest industry clients in a compact way.”

If you are a mill operations professional, visiting Pöyry during the two-day Paptech event will be well worth it. Pöyry will be presenting the Green Mill index, a sustainability index tool launched last fall.

                                              About the Industry

The Indian Paper Industry is the fastest growing pulp and paper market in the world today. With an estimated turnover of approximately USD 3, 4 billion in 2010, the Indian pulp and paper industry is growing on a strong demand base with several expansion plans underway.

The demand for newsprint and writing & printing paper is expected to grow with 9% per year and the total Indian paper production is expected to grow from 9 million tonnes in 2010 to 14 million tonnes in 2014.

India accounts for nearly 15% of the world population but consumes only 1 % of the world paper consumption. By 2015, the consumption of paper in India is expected to double from the current 8 million tones. At the moment, the paper consumption in India is just 7 kgs per capita, as compared to the global average of 50 kgs.

The potential implications are enormous; the impact of just 1 kg increase per capita consumption would lead to an increase in demand by 1.1 million tonnes of paper. According to many industry experts, India will definitely be one of the most interesting markets for the global pulp and paper industry in the coming years.

Paptech 2012 – The new meeting place for the Finnish pulp and paper industry http://www.pulp-paperworld.com/ex1/adfor/item/1493-papv15 http://www.pulp-paperworld.com/ex1/adfor/item/1493-papv15

Adforum, the world leading organiser of trade fairs for the pulp and paper industry, is introducing a brand new event for the Finnish pulp and paper industry: Paptech 2012. The first edition of Paptech will be arranged in Helsinki, March 21-22, 2012.The event is based on a totally new meeting concept, enabling easy and cost effective meetings between suppliers and buyers within the pulp and paper industry. Key words for Paptech are intimate, targeted and business-oriented.

The new concept makes Paptech a versatile event. This is a two-day forum where suppliers and buyers meet and do business in a relaxed atmosphere. Participants will be inspired by product presentations, catch up with colleagues over a cup of coffee, meet new and existing suppliers, listen to talks in the Speaker’s Corner, enjoy themselves at the Gala Dinner and mingle in the hotel’s special Paptech bar until late at night. There will be informative seminars, cafés and match-making areas. The entire industry will be gathered in one place. “The design of the venue is all about creating a social scene which stimulates business”, says Marcus Bergström, Vice President at Adforum.

All-inclusive turn key stand packages will ensure that the exhibitor can focus on one thing: doing business. “The new concept entails many advantages”, says Bergström. “Exhibitors are offered a time-saving and cost effective way of participating. They just need to show up and be ready to do business, as all the practical details are taken care of. For the amount of a traditional advertisement in magazine, the companies will meet targeted companies from the industry.”

Another important feature of the new concept is to attract the right visitors. Adforum will together with important trade partners make sure that all the key players of the industry attend Paptech 2012.  The aim is for this event to be a stimulating and high quality meeting place for the Finnish paper industry.

Paptech will play a significant role for the Finnish pulp and paper industry. As the next international PulPaper will be arranged in 2014, Paptech will act as a regional meeting place for the Finnish market between the large, international exhibitions. “Companies have shown a lot of interest in Paptech, which clearly indicates that there is a need for this type of event”, says Bergström.
