Welcome to visit IWB Week today and tomorrow!

The first day of IWB Week had a lot to offer its participants.

The event Opening Ceremony attracted more than two hundred attendees and offered a very interesting program. The event, opened by Swedish Minister of Rural Affairs, Sven-Erik Bucht and the Chairman of Södra, Lena Ek focused on forest resources as well as sustainable bioeconomy of tomorrow. After the opening ceremony there was a very appreciated panel discussion about the policy of using biomass. The event continued by a focus session on sustainable and intelligent bioeconomy.

The exhibition floor was offering many successful meetings including presentations and talks from the Open Seminars stage.

The IWB Week After Work featuring the release of Innventias Global Outlook Report: “A Cellulose-Based Society” was a great success and gave the IWB Week participants a well-deserved and relaxed few hours with networking, mingling, nice food and drinks. Several exhibitors entertained their customers at their stands.

Bioeconomy Innovation Forum, organized by Adforum and Nordisk Papperstidning & Biobusiness, are pleased to announce that the two leading R& D centers in the forest industry, Innventia and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, have joined the event as conference partners.  Bioeconomy Innovation Forum will be organized at Stockholmsmässan May 24-26th 2016, in connection to the leading event for the pulp and paper industry, International Pulp & Paper Week.

Bioeconomy Innovation Forum is designed by the exhibitors and visitors in order to match the needs of the rapidly changing forest industry.  The forum will focus on innovations and new products within Nanocellulose, Bioplastics and Biocomposites, Textile fibres, Biofuels, Carbon fibres from lignin, Consumer packaging, Biochemicals and Constructions. The event will work as co-operation platform between the forest industry and other industries interested in biobased solutions.

“There is an increasing number of companies in various industries having a strong interest in sustainable biobased solutions,” says Marcus Bergström, CEO Adforum and continues: “taking the whole forest industry and also the pulp and paper exhibitions into consideration, it is essential that we also invite people from other industries to be part of the event. The forest industry companies should meet their existing and new customers, not only their own employees as has been the case at previous events.”

“As forerunners of the forest industry we consider Bioeconomy Innovation Forum as a great platform for discussion about existing and future biobased products”, says Birgitta Sundblad, President of Innventia. Innventia and VTT will work as conference partners for the event. Both parties will be part of a conference committee together with the organizers of the event. The committee will select the most interesting and suitable speakers for the different focus areas.

The conference will be organized in direct connection to the event area but in a separate conference room in order to secure the quality of the conference. Company and product presentations will be concentrated to another stage in the exhibition area in order to make a clear difference between the official conference program and direct product presentations.

The new event will be designed in order to highlight networking between different industry groups. In order to optimize the networking, the participants will be presented in networking islands and mini stands. Other features will be matchmaking, social events and company visits.

The previous event held in Stockholm was organized in cooperation with a Swedish organization within the paper and pulp industry and was held in May 2011.  The event gathered 650 exhibiting companies from 30 countries in 230 stands, and 9,064 visitors from 56 different countries.

In 2016 the International Pulp & Paper Week and Bioeconomy Innovation will take place at Stockholmsmässan, May 24-26th. The interest for the event has been great and a large number of companies has already signed up for the two different events.

“This is a great opportunity also for the foreign organizations to highlight their competence in a Scandinavian setting”, says Kari Larjava, Executive Vice President of VTT Ltd.

China Paper – Focus on Shanghai 2014

After careful consideration, Adforum and EJK, the organizers of China Paper/China Forest have decided not to go ahead with the arrangements of China Paper/China Forest 2013 in Beijing, September 2-4, 2013. The focus will now lie on the coming China Paper event in Shanghai, September 15-17, 2014.

In the autumn of 2012 our former Chinese sales associate since several years back, China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute (CNPPRI), launched a competing show scheduled just a few weeks after China Paper/China Forest 2013.

Two similar trade shows that close to each other would not be beneficial for exhibitors, visitors or the industry as a whole. The organizers of China Paper/China Forest have therefore tried to negotiate a resolution with CNPPRI involving a merge of the two shows into one strong meeting place. Negotiation efforts have not been successful and Adforum/EJK have therefore decided to discontinue the arrangements of China Paper/China Forest 2013 in Beijing.

China Paper/China Forest has successfully served the needs of the industry since 1987, with exceedingly positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike. Adforum/EJK now invite Chinese and International exhibitors, visitors and industry professionals to the 21st edition of China Paper in Shanghai, September 15-17, 2014. Like previous editions, the show is taking place at INTEX, Shanghai, featuring a highest quality international exhibition and conference.

The last China Paper Shanghai in 2012 proved once again the excellent reputation and track record of the event with visitor figures up 11% from the year before. More than 7300 highly qualified attendees and buyers from across China and 52 other countries could enjoy an exhibition of almost 400 companies.

The topics discussed during the five conference sessions will be for example the definition of bioeconomy, profitability of the entire value chain, resource management for a sustainable world and the big bottlenecks of biomass conversion and separation technology. Attention will also be paid to the future role of paper in the information society, not forgetting packaging and new biobased materials. But one of the most important questions asked during the conference will be: “What can we offer the 2 billion living on less than 2 dollars a  day?”

The International Mechanical Pulping Conference (IMPC) will also be an important part of the conference programme, being a parallel session to the above mentioned conference sessions. IMPC is a scientific conference, which circulates between the different continents.
