FiberMark, a global leader in manufacturing innovative, fiber-based specialty covering materials for world-leading brands, recently unveiled a strikingly improved and visually stunning new company website (www.fibermark.com), The new website represents a marked departure from the former site, inaugurating some sweeping innovations and enhancements.

fibermark newThe project to revamp the FiberMark website was several months in development.  A project team composed of internal FiberMark marketing professionals and external contractors who specialize in Web design, programming and content development collaborated on the new site.

“From the onset, we took a very strategic approach to the site’s redesign,” explains Danielle Cutler, FiberMark Marketing Manager - Communications, who spearheaded the project.  “We asked ‘How are we organized, what are our strengths, and what are our global customers looking for when they visit our website?’ It was critical to the project that we take a customer- and market-focused approach. Before we even got started, we had a series of meetings to simply define what our goals and messaging would be, and how the site would look and be structured to improve its user friendliness for our visitors and offer solutions for them when they visit the site.”

Chloe Jones, president of FreshJones, a Greenfield, Mass., firm retained to develop the site, explains that the new site offers visitors a much more dynamic, integrated approach to its use. “We developed it to align with FiberMark’s designated market segments, with a home page for each and every market FiberMark serves.  In that way, new visitors can hone in on their particular interest immediately.” Jones adds that a primary goal was addressing content and delivering text that was outward-focused, in order to meet the needs and concerns of the FiberMark website audience. The site also offers traditional navigation and search tools, which are particularly useful for visitors already familiar with the company and website.

Jones explains that the new website’s programming structure was designed to accommodate FiberMark’s many market segments and their vast array of products. “We created dynamic pages that are database-driven, which enables the company to create relationships with the product data across different areas of the site, such as ‘News,’ ‘Environment,’ and ‘Design,’” she notes. “Whether it be the virtual design tool or the gallery of award-winning designs from customers showcasing how products can be used, the information presented and gathered through the site is much more sophisticated, dynamic and refined.  It’s a really diverse tool.” She also notes that the site is designed for an optimal visual display for the current mix of communications devices, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smart phones.

As Cutler emphasizes, “We’ve taken an approach to build this new site from the ground up, to build in the design features and technical functionality that we know our customers want to have.  Now there are many more targeted paths for users to find their way through the site, to get to the information they need easier, quicker and with better results.”

fiber mark 1FiberMark, (www.fibermark.com), a global leader in manufacturing innovative, fiber-based specialty covering materials for world-leading brands, has announced the winners of its industry-renowned annual “Specifier Awards” competition.

The FiberMark Specifier Awards program was inaugurated in 1992 to celebrate the best of color, texture, pattern and design innovation across a wide array of packaging, publishing, office products, graphic arts and industrial applications.  Since its introduction, the Awards program has become international in scope, earning an increasing reputation as one of the industry’s most highly regarded competitions.

Among this year’s top winners were: a Gold Award for an “Audi C/D Segment Welcome Kit” submitted by Megan Henretta at RTC, designed by Rebecca Mabie and Paul Henkel; a Silver Award for a “Play Off Diaries” submitted by Yasuhiro Tokimoto, president at Jakeutsu Printing Company, Ltd., a Bronze Award for an “Organicept Deskset,” submitted by Leo Wasmer at Promocion Precisa SA DE CV, designed by Monica L. Yuen; and a Green Award for a “Lincoln Catalog,” submitted by Jack Dorsey at Latcha & Associates, designed by Amy Turnnen.

Stella Alstede, FiberMark’s Marketing Manager-Promotions, who coordinates the awards program, says that the competition has grown steadily since its inception.  “This year, we received approximately 150 submissions from all over the world in many different categories of design and specification,” she notes, explaining that the entries are judged by a panel of experts from all aspects of FiberMark’s business.  Specifier Award winners receive industry-wide recognition from the design and “specifier” communities, as well as notable posting on FiberMark’s Website, at www.fibermark.com/awards.

Any product designed and manufactured during the previous calendar year is eligible for submission. Entries are judged from criteria that consider color, texture, pattern and design, and their expression throughout a range of “naturally creative” materials and themes.  Importantly, the judges also weigh construction quality and the relationship of the covering material to the overall product.

FiberMark, (www.fibermark.com), a global leader in manufacturing innovative, fiber-based specialty covering materials for world-leading brands, has launched a new decorative product line that offers a remarkable array of unique benefits to designers, converters and manufacturers.

Called “LaCrema™,” the extremely unique new line of FSC®-certified, fiber-based material featuring a high loft coating was developed in response to customers’ desires for a more durable, resilient, yet exceptionally lush covering for premier applications. LaCrema also answered customer preferences for more environmentally friendly material with superior processing characteristics to its industry counterparts.

Developed with ground-breaking, patent-pending technology by a team of multi-disciplinary scientists and engineers at FiberMark’s impressive R&D lab in West Springfield, Mass., LaCrema is hitting the marketplace with some very promising results.

Dr. Jim Ding, FiberMark’s Executive Vice President of Research & Development and Marketing explains that the project to develop LaCrema began when a customer appealed to FiberMark for a covering material that was more forgiving and easier to work with. “Some of the competitive products were less than perfect. Traditionally, fabricators have had extreme difficulty where the competitive material didn’t fold or crease well around edges and corners, making it difficult to ‘process’; plus, they had durability issues.” He notes, “The customer had issues with what was standard in the industry for display boxes and other products that are typically covered in this manner. However, the efficiency LaCrema offers is just remarkable.”

One of LaCrema’s key benefits is to enable FiberMark’s customers to process the material much more successfully than they’re able to using competitive products. LaCrema can turn an edge or make a rounded corner, and is suitable for a wide range of applications including, but not limited to: high-end packaging, notebooks, diaries, book covers, presentation and literature covers, and restaurant menus.
In addition to its superior folding characteristics, LaCrema is also scuff- and stain-resistant. It can be successfully glued using conventional, water-based adhesives, requiring far less heat and potentially hazardous chemicals in the process.

With a cushioned feel combined with a decorative look, LaCrema is available in eight traditional colors, all with FiberMark’s unique soft-touch finish. Custom colors are also available. LaCrema is available direct from FiberMark and through its global distribution network.
