evg logoEV Group (EVG) has delivered a dryer section modification on the PM1 at BillerudKorsnäs Finland Oy, Pietarsaari. After the modification the draw differences between the press and dryer section have been reduced with improved end product properties as a result. Simultaneously also the amount of web breaks have been reduced, improving the overall runnability and production line efficiency.

EVG made modifications to shorten the long open draw between the press and dryer section. Grooved cylinders in the first dryer group were modified to vacuum rolls by drilling the cylinder surface. EV EasyOne eco high release web stabilizers were installed above these drilled vacuum rolls. The installation also included a low pressure compressor and compressed air piping. The remaining first dryer section pockets were equipped with EVsf2 web stabilizers to ensure a good runnability of the web. DST doctors and needed modifications and additions to existing air systems were also included into the scope of supply, as the field activities including installation and start-up services.

As a result of the modification the end product properties were improved as expected. Less web breaks has also led to an improved runnability in the press and dryer section.

BillerudKorsnäs Pietarsaari PM1 produces kraft and sack paper in the basis weight of 50 - 150g/m2. Machine speed is 900 m/min, width 6.6 m and with a yearly production capacity of 200.000 tons.

Extensive conversion in Kotkamills, PM2, Finland

EVG to participate into the delivery of the new FBB production line at Kotkamills Oy in Kotka, Finland.

evg logoEVG has been chosen as the supplier for the ventilation equipment for the extensive conversion of the existing printing paper machine PM2 in Kotka to a folding boxboard (FBB) BM2 production line.  The 5970 mm wide machine will after the rebuild produce different FBB grades in the basis weight window of 150 – 500 g/m2 and with a yearly capacity of approximately 400.000 tons.

The EVG ventilation delivery will include new wet end process exhausts and forming section wire and felt cleaning equipment, a completely new high humidity closed hood for the pre-dryer section, new efficient pocket ventilation system for the extended pre-dryer section and several processpulper exhausts. The delivery is to include both process novelties and tailor-made technical solutions, this to enable a maintenance and energy efficient daily run of the production line. In addition to the new equipment existing process ventilation equipment will be re-used, when and where applicable.

Furthermore to the process ventilation delivery also an extension of the existing machine hall ventilation, targeting for improved building ventilation and working conditions both for the new BM2 and the existing PM1, is part of the total EVG delivery. New supply air units with a total capacity of over 100 m3/s will be located into different parts of the buildings, taking into account both process requirements and overall ventilation improvement targets.

The overall delivery includes also the installation and start-up assistance services. The start-up of the new production line is scheduled for the early summer 2016.

This total ventilation equipment delivery will be, by several measures, one of the largest in the over 20 years history of EVG.
