At the end of April, the Rumanian tissue producer Petrocart, has successfully started up their new Toscotec complete tissue production line installed in Piatra Neamt, headquarter of the company since 1908.

Based on a turn-key concept and an average production of 75 tons per day, the new line includes the stock preparation plant for virgin and recycled fibers, a MODULO-PLUS tissue machine with single-layer headbox, double press configuration and TT SYD-12FT, the tissue machine auxiliary plants including a Milltech hood and steam & condensate system . A three unwind stands tissue slitter rewinder TT WIND-M completes Toscotec scope of supply.
According to Petrocart green philosophy, the project was mainly focused on reduced energy consumption, usage of waste paper, recovery and re-usage of the water in the manufacturing process.

The project has been managed on the turn-key basis by Toscotec providing also the whole engineering services, erection supervision, start-up and training.

Italian tissue machine supplier Toscotec S.p.a. has announced  the achievement of a striking result starting up ten of its tissue machines in little more than three months. From 15 October 2012 to 31 January 2013 Toscotec has closed a tight schedule of complete TM start ups in three different continents: Africa, Europe and Asia.

TT optAmong these projects there are turnkey solutions, tissue plants equipped with AHEAD 1.5 M and MODULO Plus in Energy Saving configuration with different scopes of supply, but all including engineering and overall services for international customers as Vinda, Sipat S.A., C&S Paper and MP Hygiene.

Photo optThe Moroccan tissue producer Sipat has been successfully started up PM2 machine in Meknes after a major rebuilding. The Italian company Toscotec has been the supplier of the rebuilding of the existing PM2 in crescent former. The dry end of the same PM2 was rebuilt in 2009 by Toscotec too.

The Sipat TM 2 started up smoothly according to the time schedule and produced a good-quality saleable product from the very beginning.

Sipat S.A. - Societé Industrielle Des Papiers Tissues, established in 1978, is owned by the El Kendouci family. With a production capacity of 16.000 tpy, the company can satisfy the request of the Moroccan market, capable of absorbing 70% of SIPAT’s capacity, and exports the rest to other African markets. The production range includes mainly facial tissue, then toilet rolls, napkins, and kitchen towels.

Toscotec's delivery included a major rebuild of the original Toschi sloped wire forming section, which has been replaced with a mos Plustype crescent former with TT HEADBOX SL-T, a rebuild of the existing approach system and of the felt run as well as YD doctoring system. Furthermore electrification and a new machine control system completed the package. The project has been handled on a turnkey basis, including dismantling of the existing equipment, installation of the new machinery, start-up assistance and training services.

The new machine parts have been designed for an operative speed up to 1300 mpm with a reel width of 2750 mm.

The purpose of the PM2 rebuilding was to meet the regional growing market demand in terms of products quality and production capacity with an increased output, as well as to reduce energy consumption.

The fast delivery and installation timing combined with very good performances of the machine few days after the start up underline once more Toscotec leadership not only in providing capital projects to the tissue industry with innovative energy-savings concept, but also in managing complex and integrated rebuilds with fast pay-back time for the final customers.

pic3C&S Paper has brought a new 28,000 tonne/yr tissue machine on stream at its mill in Chengdu city, Sichuan province.

The PM, supplied by Toscotec, has a wire width of 3.6 m and a design speed of 1,600 m/min.

Another two identical units from the same supplier will come online soon at the firm's mill in Jiangmen city, Guangdong province.

The first of these is expected to start up in December, and the second will come online early next year.

Four more PMs to come: C&S Paper will also install four other tissue units which it aims to fire up in 2013, raising its total capacity to more than 520,000 tonnes/yr.

Two machines with a combined capacity of 59,000 tonnes/yr have been ordered from Toscotec. These will be erected at the Chengdu site, with startup scheduled for the second half of 2013.

One of the PMs will have a trim width of 3.55 m and a design speed of 1,650 m/min, and will be able to produce tissue at a rate of 32,000 tonnes/yr.

The other, with a trim width of 2.85 m and a design speed of 1,700 m/min, will have a capacity of 27,000 tonnes/yr.

SsangYong C&B Inc., a South Korean company headquartered in Jochiwon-eup, Seong ,Korea has closed the purchase of a new tissue machine with a production capacity of 91 tpd from Toscotec. The machine will be installed in Jochiwon plant and is expected to come on stream within the end of 2013.

Ssangyong C&B Inc. produces and markets paper and tissues, such as facial, bath, kitchen towels, adult diapers, and household products. The company was founded in 1980 and is owned by Mr. David Kim. Ssangyong C&B Inc. operates as a subsidiary of Monalisa Co. Ltd. Today is one of the biggest tissue producer and converter in South Korea with a strong popular brand in the country. The meaning of Ssangyong is “two dragons” while C&B states for “clean and best”

The group owns three tissue plants in different cities: one tissue production and converting plant located in Jochiwon, one tissue and converting plant situated in Jeonju and a converting plant located in Daejon.

Today the total production capacity is 130.000 tons/year, reached with seven tissue machines: four of them are located in Jochiwon plant, while three other ones are in Jeonju plant.

The new Toscotec AHEAD 1.5S tissue machine is a crescent former with single-layer headbox, double press configuration, a Steel Yankee Dryer TT SYD-12FT and a Reel section TT Reel-P.

The scope of supply includes also high efficiency gas fired hood, steam & condensate system and a steam recovery boiler fed by hood exhaust air provided by Toscotec associate Milltech. A shaft puller for expandable shafts is also included in the supply.

The machine operating speed is 1700 mpm with a net web width of 2730 mm.

The project will be managed by Toscotec and Milltech including also engineering and overall services and will be focused on energy saving concepts.

Tissue and hygiene in South Korea recorded retail value growth in 2011 due to growing demand for premium products with specialized functionality, antibiotic ingredients and better quality raw materials. This rise in demand for higher priced brands boosted overall retail value growth. The new investment from SsangYong C&B Inc. with state of the art Toscotec technology will help the Company to maintain its leading position in this growing and challenging market.

Michael Drage joins Toscotec North America

toscToscotec S.p.A., the market leader in the fabrication of Steel Yankee Dryers and the supplier of complete TAD and Crescent Former paper machines, has announced that Michael Drage has joined the group as Director of Business Development for North America.

Drage comes to Toscotec North America, the organization located in Green Bay (WI), with over 20 years of tissue industry experience, previously holding the position of President and COO at Fabio Perini North America. Drage will be in charge of building a sales and service organization to better serve Toscotec’s expanding business in the United States and Canada.

In addition to the tissue industry, Toscotec supplies machinery to the paper and board industry, and also the Milltech Drying and Environmental Equipments , for both tissue machine and converting applications.

On October 12, 2012, MP Hygiene started up their new Toscotec supplied complete tissue production line at their facility in Annonay, Ardeche Department on Rhone-Alps Region, France.

Due to the excellent cooperation between MP Hygiene and Toscotec the TM 1 machine started up smoothly on schedule, fifteen months after the order signature of the turn key contract.

35 optThe new Toscotec's line includes AHEAD-1.5S crescent former tissue machine with single-layer headbox, double press configuration and a Steel Yankee Dryer (TT SYD 12FT), machine auxiliaries, stock preparation plant for virgin pulp and electrification & control system.

The scope of supply includes also: a boiler plant, air compressors, turbo-blowers for vacuum production, steam generator and a cascade heat exchanger system for the hood heat recovery. A three unwind stands tissue slitter rewinder TT WIND-H and an automatic roll handling system complete the supply.

The machine design speed is 1900 mpm with a net web width of 2820 mm and with an average production of 100 tpd. The project has been fully managed by Toscotec on an EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) basis.

The AHEAD tissue plant concept has been developed with a great attention to the energy saving and low emission as well as to the environmental issues and the impact on the site. The new line will allow the French Company to guarantee its own requirements for the existing converting facilities.

Before the start up of the tissue machine MP Hygiene, settled in 1998, represented five industrial (AFH) divisions, with ten converting lines and three production sites over 34,000 m2. Its logistics hub of 18,000 m2 makes it possible to deliver all volumes of order, from one pallet to a whole truck, while continuous investment in research has opened the way for innovative products, such as DESL® technology, which adds resistance to paper wipes, or the Evadis® range of non-touch wiping systems.

More than 300 clients gather in Lucca from all over the world

Italian paper machinery manufacturer Toscotec celebrated the sale of its 100th steel yankee dryer for tissue production with a ceremony held in its new factory unit at Marlia, Lucca last week.

It was the year 2000 when Toscotec delivered its first steel Yankee dryer – TT SYD – and in little over a decade the company has sold 100 units, establishing a firm position as the market leader for the technology. 50 different customers and 29 countries testify to this success.

101012 0125_2Tissue analyst Esko Uutela, said in a speech during the evening that Toscotec holds more than 70 per cent of the world market for steel Yankees, a market which is set for steady growth, since the technology offers numerous advantages: most specifically safety and energy saving, both topics of the moment. In fact, more paper mills than ever have been considering the installation of the TT SYD, both for new paper machines and for retrofits, as the significant savings of this technology have gradually become more and more evident.

The celebration attracted more than 300 clients from all over the world. During the evening three companies received awards: the Italian tissue producer Eurovast, who installed the first TT SYD, the Chinese group C&S, who bought 10 steel Yankee dryers from Toscotec, and another leading Chinese group, Vinda, who signed the contract for TT SYD number 100.

The ceremony was held in a new building erected on the Toscotec production site. The new facility will be dedicated to the construction and assembly of Steel Yankees up to 22ft in diameter and 9m deckle.

tissOne of the major Chinese tissue producers, C&S Paper, has signed up Toscotec to supply other two new tissue machines with a combined capacity of 58,000 tpy at its mills in China.

The deal was struck after C&S Paper brought on line another tissue PM, the third one in the last two years, provided by the Italian supplier at its mill in Tangshan city in China's, during the summer.

The new Toscotec machines will be installed in Chengdu mill located in Sichuan. One of the machine (AHEAD-1.5M) will have a trim width of 3550 mm, speed of 1650 mpm, steam heated hood, steel yankee dryer TT SYD-16FT and capacity of some 32.000 tpy. The second one (AHEAD-1.5S) will have a trim width of 2850 mm, speed of 1700 mpm, gas fired hood, steel yankee dryer TT SYD-12FT and capacity of some 27.000 tpy.

Toscotec’s scope of supply for both machines includes crescent former TM, machine auxiliaries, hood and dust removal system (provided by Toscotec associated Milltech), electrification and control system.

The two PMs will come online in second half of 2013, if everything goes smoothly.

C&S Paper owns six mills in China operating 80 machines, including the new Toscotec units at the Jiangmen and Tangshan sites with a total tissue capacity of approx. 350,000 tpy at the end of 2012. Three more Toscotec units will come on stream in the next months.

With these new repeated orders for one of the most important tissue producer in the Chinese developing market, Toscotec re-state its success in providing state of the art projects with a wide variety of different drying solutions for the tissue industry worldwide。

China's C&S Paper has started up a 25,000 tonne/yr tissue machine at a greenfield plant in Tangshan city, Hebei province. The unit, commissioned in early August, was pic3supplied by Toscotec. It has a width of 3.5m and a design speed of 1,500 m/min. The machine was scheduled to start up at the end of last year. The firm declined to comment on the delay. The tissue producer is pressing ahead with the construction and installation of three other Toscotec units at two mills.

The identical machines will be 3.6 m wide, and have a design speed of 1,600 m/min. The first one is expected to come online in late September at the firm's site in Chengdu city, in the southwestern province of Sichuan.

The other two will go to the firm's existing mill in Jiangmen city, Guangdong province. A contact close to the project said that civil engineering work is almost completed. The Jiangmen startups are scheduled for the end of this year.

C&S also operates three other tissue mills in China, with one in Zhongshan city, Guangdong province, and one in Jiaxing city, Zhejiang province, and the other in Xiaogan city, Hubei province.

In addition to the new 25,000 tonne/yr unit at the Tangshan facility, the firm has a total tissue capacity of 211,000 tonnes/yr.

New mill planned: C&S signed an investment agreement with authorities in Luoding city, Guangdong province to build a new tissue plant there last week.

According to the firm, a combined capacity of 120,000 tonnes/yr of tissue will come online by March 2014.
But other details of the project are unknown for now.
