Beckhoff's Versatile Control Panels

Beckhoff PC Control for applications with stringent requirements to comply with hygiene and cleanroom regulations.

Versatile Control Panels and Panel PCs made with stainless steel
With the new Control Panel and Panel PC series made of high-quality stainless steel, Beckhoff introduces control and display units that meet the strict hygiene regulations for the food, packaging and medical industries as well as for cleanrooms.

The stainless steel Panels with IP 65 protection feature virtually gapless housing design with flush-mounted touch panels. The Panel PC variant is equipped with an energy efficient Intel® Atom™ processor and represents a high-performance Industrial PC with slimline housing design.

The new housing design has minimum gap dimensions at the front and rear and is consistently flush without edges or crevices, in order to meet the hygiene and cleanroom regulations in the food and packaging industries. Moisture deposits and associated contamination are avoided. The stainless steel Control Panels and Panel PCs are currently available as 12" or 15" touch panels.

Intel® Atom™ based Panel PC offers high performance in a compact format

The stainless steel Panel PCs of the CP77xx series feature an Intel® Atom™ processor with low heat dissipation, forming a compact, high-performance IPC platform. The centrepiece of the device is a Beckhoff motherboard with 1-second UPS. Two on-board Ethernet ports facilitate the implementation of EtherCAT in applications.

The CP79xx stainless steel Control Panels feature a DVI/USB port for connection to a PC. DVI/USB Extended permits the installation of the stainless steel Panel up to 50 metres away from the PC. Operator comfort can be further enhanced by the optional stainless steel mounting arm adapters from Beckhoff, which enable the customer to integrate the Panel directly onto the machine.

Optimised operator comfort through customer-specific device design

Customer-specific modifications such as integration of emergency off and electromechanical control buttons, short-stroke keys and RFID readers under the front laminate and USB ports are optionally available. The design of the front laminate can also be customised. The result is a multi-functional operating unit that integrates seamlessly with machine designs. Push-buttons with protective caps can be implemented as control interfaces for machinery used in the food industry.

Shifting Gears for a New Industrial Policy

The Alliance for a Competitive European Industry (ACEI) has called for a new industrial partnership between the EU and its major industries. In its Manifesto, entitled "Shifting Gears for a New Industrial Policy", the ACEI stresses what needs to be done so that manufacturing industry can remain one of the engines of the economy. The presentation comes ahead the meeting of the Competitiveness Council on 1-2 March on industrial policy.

Europe needs a vibrant manufacturing industry to spark the economic recovery, innovation and growth required to meet the societal and environmental challenges which lie ahead. Manufacturing provides a fifth of EU GDP and provides three quarters of EU exports. Over 80% of the EU private sector research and development expenditures are provided by industry. Manufacturing firms are also key clients of many services activities. Many of the services jobs in the EU would be lost without a strong industrial base.
